About the Author
J. K. Andrews, an author and educator, was born in Lewisham, southeast London, to Lecietta and Peter Andrews, originally from Carriacou, West Indies. She is the youngest of five children, with her siblings Leonard, Theresa, Ann, and Margaret sharing a rich family history rooted in the Caribbean.
While her eldest siblings were born in Aruba, Margaret was born in Carriacou before the family migrated to England in the late 1950s, settling in the London borough of Lewisham.
J.K. Andrews began her writing career with the publication of her debut children’s book, The Brave Princess Shani, in 1990. In addition to her literary achievements, she has dedicated decades to teaching, beginning her career in primary schools across Lewisham in 1987. From 2012 to 2018, she provided invaluable educational support to children receiving care, teaching in the schoolroom on the Children’s Ward at Lewisham Hospital.
Currently, J.K. Andrews works as a supply teacher in the boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich, continuing her lifelong passion for education and empowering young minds. Her work bridges a commitment to storytelling and teaching, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of creativity and learning.
